Our villas are deliberately designed to be in harmony with nature. Rather than detracting from the verdant native bush that surrounds them, they settle into the landscape. The flourishing plant life outside provides a serene atmosphere for your stay. Each villa offers stunning sea views, as well as glimpses of the native birds and Omana’s own native forest reserve.
Highly regarded New Zealand architect Pete Bossley was commissioned to design the villas to the highest standards of sustainability. Building products are all environmentally certified and bought locally where possible. Everyone involved in this project was hand-picked for both the quality and detail of their work as well as their passion for working in harmony with nature.
Co-owner Silmara Scholtz has personally led the design of all interiors with her passionate Brazilian heart – and with an inherent sense of style and flair. Bespoke furnishings have been hand-picked for each luxury villa, with no detail overlooked. Even the beds have been manufactured to her exacting standards.
In fact, every decision since Silmara and her husband, Cobus, purchased the property has been for the good of the earth as well as the eye. They have significantly invested in ensuring the Omana forest can prosper, ridding it of exotics, weeds and pests and developing a programme of native planting to create a more welcoming thriving environment for wildlife. This effort has already increased the bird life; the tuis are back!

When Cobus and Sil Scholtz first stepped onto the land now known as Omana, neither spoke. The late afternoon sun cast a golden light across the humming earth. A wawata (fantail) danced in front of them. Leaves in the neighbouring vineyard fluttered in the lightest of breezes. Without exchanging words, both knew this was the energy they’d been searching for; this was exactly where they should be.
THE PICTURE-PERFECT PIECE OF WAIHEKE
Here was the picture-perfect piece of Waiheke Island for them – almost four acres of verdant land, including a forest of ancient trees linking land and sea, rolling down to an idyllic crescent-shaped private beach. And all of this, so very close to the buzz and energy of all that the vibrant entrepreneurial island community has to offer:
Beaches and bush trails, art and culture, activities to thrill as well as vineyards, restaurants and bars to kick back, breathe out and raise a glass to abundance.
While the initial vision was to build a place for their own enjoyment, this quickly moved to the dream of creating an embracing luxurious escape for couples or individuals to reconnect with nature, with their hearts and with each other.
Generosity and the need to share their own good fortune are deeply embedded into the DNA of these two lovebirds, and you will notice this big-hearted quality across every aspect of your stay.
A NEW MEANING FOR LUXURY
Luxury takes a new meaning in these complex years we live in. Cobus and Sil share their version with you at Omana; it involves kindness, gratitude and abundance. They welcome you home — to nature, to your own heart and to each other.
